# Revival Engineer > Revival Engineer is a human proxy for removing cloud computing where it is not justified. It works like ghostwriting: Revival Engineer does the work, and the client's name goes on it. It does not write books. The fee is 20% of the client's annual compensation; proof of pay is required, and a contract is signed before any work is delivered. Revival Engineering is the practice of removing cloud computing where it is not justified. A Revival Engineer audits what runs in the cloud, keeps what earns its cost, and moves the rest to hardware the business owns or rents directly. It is not anti-cloud: the cloud is justified for spiky or unknown demand, fast reach into many regions, short-lived workloads, and managed services that cost less than the people and hardware they replace. The five-question justification test. Ask these of every workload in the cloud; each "no" is a reason to move it out: 1. Does demand vary enough that paying for elasticity saves money? 2. Does it cost less in the cloud than on hardware you own or rent, counting the people who run it? 3. Does each managed service remove more work than it adds? 4. If you had to leave this provider, could you do it within a quarter? 5. Can someone on the team explain what this workload costs, and why?
